Dollar

13-year old, 14.3H, bay Quarter Horse gelding

Beau

This handsome fellow thinks that he is big dog and is therefore a people lover! He is very much an in-your-pocket horse that has a sweet and friendly attitude. However, like a dog, he can be a bit pushy and invasive of one’s personal space if you are not firm with him. Dollar came to NWESC from Cowgirl Spirit Rescue Drill Team (CSRDT) and has been an excellent fit for our therapy program. In fact, Dollar has been NWESC’s star therapy horse because of his great personality. That personality also spills over into his herd dynamics where he is quite dominant, but is a great herd boss keeping both mares and geldings in line.

Dollar was extensively trained in his younger years, however since he is not currently in a riding/training program, he is not recommended for a beginner rider. Dollar has navicular syndrome and limps on his left front foot. He does well on full turnout. Most days his lameness is apparent only at the trot, but if new horses are introduced to the herd and Dollar needs to keep order, he will sometimes come up sore at the walk. Dollar’s lameness is easily managed with supplements and anti-inflammatories as needed. Because of his lameness he is best not to be used as a primary riding companion, however he would be the perfect horse for someone who wants a friendly easy keeper to take out occasionally on a leisurely walk-only trail ride on his good days, pasture pal, or herd boss to keep a sassy horses in line.

Dollar’s adoption fee is $500
