Equine Facilitated Learning

Equine Facilitated Therapy and Learning Sessions

NWESC offers Equine Facilitated Therapy and Learning sessions, open to the public to sign up. These sessions utilize the powerful ability that equines have to enhance the connectivity of human-to-human relationships. The main goal of Equine Facilitated Therapy is to heal emotional pain and confusion and to enhance healthy human-to-human relationships. The main goal of Equine Facilitated Learning is for personal growth, but also to teach an understanding of the horse's role in Equine Facilitated Therapy and to enhance the human-animal-bond.

This program is directed by Dr. Eric Mueller. Dr. Mueller is a licensed psychologist in Portland, Oregon, where he has practiced and positively impacted people's lives for over 20 years. He has extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient treatment settings working mostly with adults. He practices Object-Relations Interpersonal Psychotherapy which strongly emphasizes the healing power of emotionally connected relationships. Dr. Mueller has also undergone extensive training in Sensory-Motor Psychotherapy and Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy both of which complement the type of therapy he has done in the past by emphasizing the healing power of connection. This valuable training has brought Dr. Mueller together with NWESC to develop an Equine-Assisted Therapy and Learning program.
