Amy SchilderAmy Schilder EFMHL Program Manager

Amy comes to NWESC with 25 years in experiential educational programming. She also brings a combination of dynamic experience in nonprofit management and in equine-facilitated methods of therapy. She is certified by the Professional Association for Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) as an Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (ESMHL), Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA), and by the Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA).

Beth AvolioBeth Avolio

Beth is a Ph.D. Psychologist and Advanced Practitioner of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and a passionate believer in the efficacy of EFMHL to enhance personal insight and promote behavioral change with more than a decade experience and leadership in the field. She is a licensed Psychologist in Washington, Nebraska and New York States, is a founding member of the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Assoc. (EAGALA) Advanced Certification where she holds an Advanced Certification as well as being a mentor in the program, is a Professional Assoc. for Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) Certified Instructor and was previously certified through CBEIP (Certification Board for Equine Interaction Professionals).

L. Jill GerberL. Jill Gerber

Jill is an Equine Specialist & Psychotherapist. She holds an MA in Applied Behavioral Sciences from Bastyr University, a Bachelor of Arts in Developmental Psychology from University of Washington with a minor in Speech Communications and a Chemical Dependency Professional License from Bellevue College. She is a certified Equine Specialist through the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Assoc. (EAGALA). She has professionally been in practice since 2007 with offices in Kirkland and Woodinville. She has worked in both the public and private sector including public schools, metal health agencies and private practice current.

Lorna ShepardsonrLorna Shepardson

Lorna is an Equine Mental Health Specialist. She holds an MA in Applied Behavioral Sciences from the Leadership Institute at Bastyr University. She has worked in social services for more than 12 years with children, at risk youth, individuals and families. Lorna owns Therapy ‘N Motion, a private practice in Bellingham, WA. Lorna has trained with Leigh Shambo’s Human Equine Alliance and Learning (HEAL) program for trauma survivors using equine facilitated psychotherapy, and with Linda Kohanov’s Epona Advanced Study Experience. She is a certified instructor and an Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning through the Professional Assoc. for Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) and Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Assoc.(EAGALA).

Kari VaarvikVolunteer Coordinator

Kari Vaarvik is NWESC's Volunteer Coordinator and also a member of the Cedarbrook Veterinary Care team! She comes to us with a wealth of horse care knowledge and experience.

Lisa DobbinCedarbrook Veterinary Care Liaison

Lisa Dobbin has been actively involved in the equine rescue community in a number of different capacities over the last 15 years, and currently is the liaison between NWESC and Cedarbrook Veterinary Care where she is the practice's manager.
