Programs Overview

NWESC has three different programs that work together. We encourage you to take some time to look through the information on our website to find out more about how our programs help local horse rescue organizations and the community.

Rescue Horse Rehabilitation

We provide professional level care (veterinary care, farrier care, training, etc) and rehabilitation for horses that are rescued through other horse rescue organizations.  This programs allows us to support local horse rescue efforts while providing a central location where equine professionals can be encouraged to donate or discount their services.

Equine Facilitated Learning

This program is aimed to help people who have therapy needs, to provided personal growth opportunities for all of us, and to nurture the human-animal bond. Horses have a special gift as healers, and rescue horses often come with inspiring success stories. In addition, using non-rideable rescue horses for this program provides a 'job' for them and is a good way to remind the horse community that horses still have value even if they can't be ridden.

Educational Program

Our educational program provides hands-on learning opportunities for veterinary and vet tech/assistant students as well as an educational series of seminars for the community. This program is linked to our rescue and rehab program so that students gain hands on experience on horses in need, a win-win situation!
